A free, printable logsheet

When I bought my most recent telescope, I decided to start logging my observations. It was a great decision; I encourage everyone to keep a logbook. I find it interesting and useful to come inside after a night of observing, and to go through the logbook. I also fire up SkyMap Pro and compare what I drew with the map, to confirm that I really had the object I thought I did. This also gives me a chance to fill in the information I didn't have available at the scope.

I was kind of amazed when I started this that I couldn't find any blank logsheets on the web anywhere; I've gotten kind of used to being able to find ANYTHING free on the web. So anyway, after looking at a few, I drew up my own, and here it is. Feel free to print as many as you want, give them to your friends, etc. I claim and retain copyright, just so no one else can. So there.

Here is a nice introduction to deep sky sketching.

UPDATE: I decided I like index cards better. Here's what I used for a card now. You can click on the image to get it on a page by itself it that will help you to print it.

Here's the original source; it's an MS Word 2000 document. I formatted it to print on a 4x6 card inserted into the manual feed slot in the center of an HP laser printer, so that's why it's formatted to print in the middle of the page all the way to the right.

If you can use this file, you'll get a better printout.
